I’m trying to decide if to get a new MacBook Air from the Apple Store (with student discount) or from Costco which is slightly cheaper. I can’t seem to figure out how to add AppleCare+ on Costco website though, despite lots of places suggesting it’s possible.

If I purchased the Costco MacBook and then AppleCare+ afterwards from the Apple Store, I’m not convinced I’d get the student discount on the AppleCare+?

Anyone experience of either?

You can buy AppleCare+ from the Settings app on your new MacBook Air, provided you do so in the window they provide (60 days?).

I suggest you contact Apple and ask. I suspect if you've an edu email address you should be fine in any event.

I'm asking specifically about the UK (we don't have .edu here), but thanks! I'm assuming someone on here will have done this and know the answer without needing to call (after the weekend).

The questions are:

  • How to buy AppleCare+ directly from Costco (UK) when purchasing mac from there
  • Alternatively, can you get student discount for AppleCare+ from Apple when not having purchased the mac directly from Apple.

So you can buy AppleCare after you purchase your MacBook for 60 days. It’s very easy but you won’t get the student discounted price you would from Apple if you bought it straight from them rather than from Costco U.K. so you if you bought from Costco you can purchase (but I think only with annual payments) and without the education discount.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! I've definitely read people online claiming they've got the student discount on the AppleCare+when buying from e.g. Currys but I can't seem to see how.
