I’m looking for a Refurbished iPad in time for Christmas, preferably an 8th Gen but it’s looking as though that won’t be happening (haven’t seen any 7th Gens as yet.) In the UK store at the moment a refurb 6th Gen is only £100 cheaper than a new 8th Gen (32GB - the iPad isn’t for me but a basic user currently on my old iPad 3 16GB.) Plenty of 2nd Gen Pros available, which would make AC+ a must. My main reason for posting this though - you can find the AC+ option via the customers also bought prompt clicking onto a 6th Gen, but if you click onto a 2nd Gen Pro, it’s not there. Is this Apple’s latest tacit acknowledgement of how widespread the white spot issue is - no longer offering AC+ on any units purchased?

Just wanted to see if I’ve got this right, and if I’m correct, to warn others who might think that the 10.5 looks like good value up against the 6th Gen.

Thanks

AC+ is available on the US store but monthly only. The iPad Air 3 has similar issues but Apple provides the 2-year AC+ as an option for that.

Alas, the people who need to be warned about this aren't the ones who frequent MacRumors.

I wouldn’t subscribe to any conspiracy theories on Apple and AC+ availability.

I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theories usually, but adding iPads to bag as rui no onna has done, 2 year option for the 6th Gen or the Air, nothing for the Pro.

Monthly AC+ is a new thing in the UK so the answer may be that we can only get the 2 year option at the point of sale and go onto monthly after that, and that Apple no longer offers the 2 year AC+ on the older models (which means paying more, at least on the Mini 5. I pay £3.49 monthly at the moment which would be £83.76 if I kept it for 2 years, vs the £69.99 paid for 2 years at purchase.) Refurbished Pro purchasers in the UK and in any other stores where the monthly isn’t offered will be gambling that they can access the monthly on set up if they want it, and returning if the option isn’t there I guess.

With the consumer law support customers get in the UK I wonder how many even consider buying any AC plans or extra insurance.
