Does applecare replace components with new or refurbished parts? Also what is a "Looper"? (Its on the applecare form you get when you go to the genius bar)

My powerbook was considered a "looper". It was sent in for a screen replacement because of white spots. It came back with a screen that was worse than the first one. It was sent in a 2nd time as a looper. Meaning it was being sent back in repair right after a failed repair. It came back the 2nd time with a perfect screen. Then the hard drive died after about 2 hours. Instead of becoming a 3rd looper I just replaced the hard drive myself. Apple repair is not very good.
