There is an applecare option on Amazon.com for $129 instead of the $149 apple charges, but it's labeled "for new version."

My early 2009 mac mini is about to run out of the std warranty, and I want to get apple care. Can I purchase this one? Do they really track part numbers like that? That you could get apple care for a mini, but it only applies to one model?

It seems to only be applicable to 2010 Unibody Mac mini models.

Sorry, yes. Purchased in Feb 2010 (late 2009 model).

Hmm, looking at the Apple Store Apple Care site (http://store.apple.com/us/product/APPLECAREMACMINI-102585?mco=MTYzNjAwNDA), I don't see any distinction between 2009 or 2010 models. Can you contact Apple or Amazon and ask for verification?
