I'm wanting to purchase Applecare for my 10-month old Aluminum iMac. I decided to look on Amazon to see if it was cheaper. They have three different listings with three different part numbers. My question is would any of them work as long as it is Applecare for an iMac.

The one I'm looking at is AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac/eMac M8851LL/B. It's only $98 too. I'm wondering if this falls under the "too good to be true" category.

I did a little searching on this forum and google. Someone here said it probably would work. I was hoping somebody might have a definitive answer before I waste $100 to save $50. Thanks.

I believe M8851LL/B is the prior part number for the iMac Applecare coverage. I bought mine for $115 from L.A. Computer and it bore the current part number MA520LL/A.

That said, so long as the copy you buy has a valid enrollment registration number you should be able to use it with no problems for your aluminum iMac.

If you notice on the page you linked to at Amazon there is one comment from someone who used it on his own 24" aluminum iMac.

It is a great deal!

Thanks for replying. I went ahead and ordered the one you recommended.

I emailed the seller at Amazon to ask if their version would work. They didn't have a clue. You would think people selling Applecare might have have an idea if it would work on all iMac's. They recommended I call Apple to find out. I figured they would just offer to sell me their version for $170.
