So I just purchased AppleCare for the first time ever. My phone is leased through ATT. If something happens to it and I utilize AppleCare, will I have to go back to att and get a device or will apple give me an att locked device? Also how will att know that my replacement is the one I’m paying for?

You’ll go through Apple for repairs or a replacement. Usually I just continue using the SIM card I have with my provider and the IMEI number updates on their end. If it doesn’t, it don’t hurt to contact AT&T and update it with them.

Okay thank you. I just wanted to be sure that if something happens. They don’t think I’m trying anything funny by switching devices.

to be sure consult AT&T or Apple directly to receive a clear answer. Unless of course the person who assisted above is employed by either you can’t be guaranteed.
