AppleCare repair taking a long time!

I sent my MacBook Pro (core 2 duo previous version) in last week because of kernel panic problems that have been happening randomly. At first the repair status was on hold because they wanted more information - they couldn't reproduce the problem, to which I said, "of course, because it's random" i can't make it happen either.

Anyhow, it's had that status for about a week, and every time I call to check they just say they are working to repair it, they just forgot to change the status.

I'm starting to get worried about never getting it back! It would be helpful since I use it for work and home. Is AppleCare prompt, or am I going to be without my computer for a while?

a week is nothing... i've been waiting 3 weeks for a top case so stop complaining...
I've waited 6 weeks for my pb to come back from repair last summer. ( I had to start school w/o my powerbook for 2 weeks

it also depends on if a part is on backorder.

well, this is the second time in a few weeks that it has gone in for the same problem. even though i detailed very well for applecare what the issue is - and followed the steps they gave, they still apparently didn't pay attention. the kernel panics were so annoying that i finally gave up at one point, deleted everything and installed os x fresh on computer. that didn't help the problem unfortunately.

so, i sent it in the first time, and it returned amazingly fast - only for me to find out that all they did was do a clean install of os x. the problem started happening again, so i promptly sent it back in.

if it comes back without being fixed this time, i'm going to consider selling it and going back to a pc. this is my first mac. oddly enough, i hardly ever had problems with any windows computers i've had. granted, they weren't as nice to use, but when your work depends on you having a functioning computer, it's important.

everybody used to go ooh and aah about my mac before, but after people have seen the headache it's been for me for the last couple months, everybody makes fun of me for having a mac now. a few people who were considering getting a mac have now changed their mind.

Is AppleCare prompt, or am I going to be without my computer for a while?

My iBook has been sent in for logic board replacement 3-4 times in the past few years and every time it is fast. Overnight shipping there, 1-2 days for repairs, and overnight shipping back to me. Granted, these were easily reproducible problems - complete freeze during/shortly after boot.
