I cracked my iPhone 6 screen last night but fortunately, I have AppleCare+

Now I'm wondering whether or not to get a "new" phone replacement or go into the Apple Store to get the screen switched out.

Reason why I'm having so much trouble in deciding is because,
1. My current phone battery is decent, dont want to get a refurb phone with worse battery life
2. I want to keep my serial number for when I sell the phone in 2 years time.
3. I really don't want a refurb phone, but if it turns out to have even better battery, it would be good.

What would you do?

i heard they want to change screens in house now. and the videos i saw make it look like the iPhone 6 was made for easier screen replacement. i heard they don't really want to give out replacements anymore.

i don't know if replacing the screen is something they do while you wait. if i drop off a computer that needs a new hard disk ( a mac mini ) i have to wait a week. if i had to wait a week with no iPhone i would opt for the replacement.

i heard in some situations, you can book two genius apartments back to back for while you wait service.

whatever you do back up to itunes before you go there

i don't turn off find my iPhone until i actually hand over the iPhone for an exchange.

i would save the total replacement for when you really need it, like cosmetic damage!!! ( in addition to another problem like a bad battery or a bad lightning port of course )

when my iPhone 5 battery was bad i just opted for the replacement, it didn't matter. plus my home button was a little rotated.

when it comes time to sell the iPhone , its kind of nice to have the original box that matches the phone. , its an extra touch, but most people don't seem to mind if the box doesn't match

Just get the display replaced, it only takes about an hour if the store isn't completely full. You can always get the phone replaced for free after if you notice any issues since you'll still be covered by the regular warranty.

Mine had a issue with an unresponsive line vertically down the middle and they replaced the display in about an hour.
