Hi all. I am a bit confused by the difference (if any) between the AppleCare and ProCare that Apple offers.

I got my MBP about a month ago and purchased the AppleCare for it (got a great deal too, since I am a student!). I saw the story about ProCare on the front page today and that reminded me about asking about this.

Are these the same thing? Meaning - do I have ProCare since I bought the AppleCare on my MBP?

Thanks :)

No, they're very different. AppleCare is basically just an extended warranty.

ProCare (in its current incarnation) is not a warranty. At $99/year, it gives you priority access to the Genius Bar at Apple Stores, as well as access to classes, tutorials, and one-on-one sessions. But yesterday's rumor is that ProCare will split tomorrow into two separate programs, at $99/year each.

Ah ok - thanks for the quick reply. Makes much more sense now. :)
