Hi all,

I am buying a used MacBook Pro m1. It has remaining balance of 3 year apple care warranty.

I am going to collect the laptop but just wanted to know how long does the apple care transfer process take ? I know the original owner has to call and provide new details but just wondering is it instant or does it take a few days. Cleary I want it done and dusted before I leave/pay.

Can anyone confirm?

I suggest you ask the seller to put the phone on speaker while he's carrying out the transfer as from my experience the transfer isn't always instant. I've been the one transferring to a new owner, and also the one receiving the transfer previously. Sometimes I've had an email within 10 minutes, other times it's come through the next day. If you're going to collect the laptop, and the seller is willing to call Apple and transfer it while you're there then even if you don't get the email I wouldn't be too worried as it sounds like the seller would be the sort of person to help and chase Apple if needs be.
