appleid problem

i have recently bought an Imac 27" 2014
but i cant log in to my appleid?
it only says that the password is wrong, but the password is not wrong

i can log in to my appleid from my macbook, but not from the imac?
it would be great if someone could help me...

Could the 2014 iMac still be "associated" with the previous owner's Apple ID? (and not yours)

If so, I believe that person has to "sign out" before you can sign in...
