My local grocery store, Hannaford, has had ApplePay for a while. I was successful doing transactions with my iPhone6 until I got an AppleWatch S3.
Transactions with the watch works fine, the MasterCard debit card works fine, but the phone will only show unsupported card and fail at the terminal. The card is also successful from my MBP (2016TB). All devices are updated to the latest versions.

I have tried removing and re-adding the card to the phone and no luck. Store said no one else has had any issues that they are aware of and my bank said same on their end. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Since it sounds like you've done some troubleshooting, I'd try your phone and that card elsewhere for a charge (maybe McDonald's, Starbucks, or Dunkin' Donuts as they have cheap enough items and have pretty good support for all cards/issuers). If you're getting the same error there, that can rule out Hannaford's terminals.

If it is still happening after that test, maybe a backup/restore on your phone and then re-add your card and try it again?

I have seen some issues where Amex or Discover cards don't work via Apple Pay if the merchant has magstripe emulation contactless or EMV contactless disabled, but for the most part, Visa and Mastercard products tend to be the ones that work more often than not. Plus, since it works fine with your watch, that kind of rules out an issue with the card/issuer.

Thanks, I will try another store this week. Just weird that it worked (iPhone) for quite a while and now won't.
