ApplePay on 2017 iMac

Hi, can anyone tell me how to use ApplePay on an iMac that doesn't have that new security chip (T2???).
On newer Macs there is a Wallet / Apple Pay setting in System Preferences apparently, but not on my 2017 iMac.
Internet search says to link it with Wallet on your phone - anyone know how?
I'd like to have Apple Pay as a payment option for my Mac App Store account but can't see how to do it.

Any help greatly appreciated! 👍

Unfortunately you can only add cards to Apple Pay directly on a Mac with Touch ID.

For other Macs (including the iMac), you can only use Apple Pay in Safari on your Mac together with a nearby iPhone or Apple Watch https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/safari/ibrw8e207504/mac

Thanks for replying. Doesn't seem to work. My Apple ID has used gift cards for funding for many years, no card info used. Decided Apple Pay was needed but doesn't show up as a payment option in App Store...... went to my Apple ID and tried to add funds (hoping Apple Pay would be an option!) but it took me to Music and when I clicked "add funds" it wouldn't recognise my Apple ID or password (which I know are correct, using them for many years!).

All very illogical but I'm sure it will work out one day. 👍
