This is a bit of a rant, so I apologise in advance!
We've all seen examples of Apple's seemingly random rejection of applications but we seem to have suffered more than most recently - in the last month we've submitted 4 applications to the app store and every one of them has been rejected or we received an e-mail saying "Review is delayed" and heard nothing since.

These aren't apps that are pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable under the developer agreements and we've seen almost identical apps to a couple of them appear in the app store whilst we've been waiting.

Unfortunately, I can't divulge what the apps are or why they were rejected (it's against Apple's NDA) but it wasn't because they don't work or anything like that.

This is really making me reconsider whether we can view the App Store as a viable platform for my company: I'm trying to run a business and this sort of arbitrary decision making by Apple (who act as Judge, Jury and Executioner) doesn't exactly help!

I feel your pain ... had an app posted 11th june, and 2 days ago i got an "unexpected delay" mail ...

Edit : by the way, where does the Apple agreement state that you can't tell what and why something is rejected ? Is this something new ?

Actually even as a non-developer I totally agree with you. Just today someone was posting about their new app that used Amazon's API! We all know about the DL fiasco so I wondered how the F that even got through!

My CageRattle and CageRattle Premium apps both got the "unexpected delay" emails within 48 hours of being submitted, but they were approved about a week later. I don't think that message is the black hole that it once used to be.

It was something that was raised a while ago when people were complaining loudly about having apps rejected - see here for an example. Having said that, the rejection e-mails no longer have the "This is covered by NDA" on them so maybe they're not any more. Don't want to take any risks though!
