Some tend to steer clear of Apple's first version of a product, be it hardware device, accessory or software (IOS, Apps etc.).
But which of Apple's first gen products have you been most impressed with?
My top three would have to be;
• Airpods...Perhaps the greatest tech accessory of the last decade. So many loved them at launch, & I don't think I've seen more people who avoided them like the plague at first, but who now regret not buying them years ago. Practical, decent build quality, battery life, ultra portable (including case), above average audio, customisation (tap commands), syncing to IOS....a liberating experience for those who haven't gone truly wireless.
They effortlessly became a part of everyday usage for me to the point where I could justify subscribing to music streaming services which as a result introduced me to more music in the last 2 years as perhaps the prior 5...
• iPhone X...Apple's new direction with the iPhone was a dare I say it, a courageous one (#notafanboi). They already had a minimalist, singular Home button that simplified the UI for young & old users for 9 years, & paved the way for competitors to design their smartphones.
But to remove that significant Home Button, whilst necessary, was risky. They not only replaced it, but came up with the seamless gestures that we use today. They're not all perfected for one-handed use on every sized model of iPhone, but they're so user-friendly for most & together with the smaller form factor of the X, it was made as easy as possible to negotiate the larger screen in a smaller body that for many, the gestures were as natural to learn as the Home Button was in prior generation iPhones.
• IOS 12*...An IOS focused on stability & bug fixes. It made the iPhone X of a year ago - whilst still a great performer - run like well oiled machine. It breathed new life into 3+ year old tablets & iPhones, bringing back the old slick feel of these devices which went missing for a while (on some more than others).
