I read elsewhere that it was revealed in the Apple v Epic trial that Apple earns $8.5 bn annually (or perhaps it was quarterly) from the games on the App Store, which makes them a bigger player than many big publishers.
Thought it was interesting…
Ha, a 4x difference in revenue is pretty significant, no?
Anyway, the App Store numbers I've seen point to Apple driving at least $65 billion in annual sales from the
entire App Store. $8.5 billion, then, sounds reasonable if you think App Store sales aren't primarily driven by games. Compare that to TTWO ($4 billion), EA ($6 billion), ATVI ($8 billion) and, perhaps the best comparison, ZNGA ($2 billion). So yes, Apple has made itself into a big player in games (yes, I meant to write that).
