Apple today announced that it has invested more than £18 billion in the United Kingdom over the last five years, plus it has doubled the number of engineering teams in the country.

Apple says that it supports 550,000 jobs in the UK through direct employment, its product supply chain, and the iOS app economy. Apple's UK engineering teams work on Apple Intelligence, Private Cloud Compute, and silicon engineering.
"We've been serving customers in the U.K. for more than 40 years, and we're proud of our deep connection with communities across this country," said Tim Cook, Apple's CEO. "We're thrilled to be growing our Apple teams here, and to keep supporting the extraordinary innovators, creators, and entrepreneurs who are pushing the boundaries of technology in so many ways."
Apple has also added jobs in the country through expanded Apple TV+ production, which has tripled in the past two years. Apple TV+ adds jobs for cast and crew in the UK, but also hundreds of suppliers across business sectors like construction, manufacturing, and hospitality.

Since the App Store launched in 2008, Apple says that UK developers have earned £9 billion from selling digital goods and services.

Apple's Greg Joswiak is in the UK this week, and today he shared a photo at Apple Battersea and said that he was looking for an "exciting and special week ahead." Apple CEO Tim Cook is in the country as well, and today he met with Slow Horses Star Jack Lowden.

And how much tax they paid? not even close to 30% UK business rate.
The UK business tax rate is 25%. Can you provide a link showing how much tax Apple paid in the UK? If Apple is not paying 25%, what is Apple doing to get out of paying it? Please provide references / links supporting your claims.

Edit: For those thinking I’m saying Apple pays 25% of all U.K.-based income, I’m not. I’m only asking for evidence for what Apple pays in the UK. This is doubly necessary since the commenter had the wrong rate in the comment. If one part of the comment is easily shown to be incorrect, the commenter has the burden to show why the rest of the comment is correct.

Apple (UK) limited paid £4,053,000.00 (to the nearest £1000) in tax on profits, according to page 22 of their most recent accounts filed at companies house, for the year ended 30 Sept 2023.

Not sure whether it’s just online or applies to in store as well but UK Apple purchases are routed through Ireland , which has a 10% corporate tax rate. I think Amazon does a similar thing but via Luxembourg.

Nothing much the UK gov can do about it either. I expect Apple pays very little corporation tax compared to sales as they will offset a variety of investment against profit, and the tax is only paid on profit.

All companies do it. Legal too.

They will pay VAT and employer taxes though… peanuts really.

The business tax in the UK is 30% ?

and I thought the 21% business capital gains tax in the US was high :).
No it's not 30%, as others have stated it's actually 25% (or 19% if you make less than £50k profit and there are discounts if you make £50k-£250k profit)

It’s perfectly reasonable of you to aks for evidence of the other commentor’s insinuation that Apple pays less than that, but come on! I will eat my hat and yours too if they’re paying 25%. Do you actually think otherwise?

Simple. The profits show up in a different country.

Wow.
And here was I thinking all along that Apple wanted to be in the UK as it made money here.
When all along it was never about Apple making money, it was all about helping the UK and being nice to the people here.

What a caring company :)
