Hi All,

Looking to get organised and put all my notes into one easy to use system.

I have used apple NOTES on my iPhone for years, never had a full file system corruption issue with it.

I will be using Notes alot more now if I can - on the Mac and iPad as well.

I'm a bit nervous of this 'all in one binary' saving of all my notes. It is not like a simple folder, full of word documents, excel documents etc.

Sooo... the questions are:

Q1) Apples Notes - has the file structure etc. ever crashed on you?

Q2) How have you backed up your Notes?
The 'on my Mac' Time machine backups will be a pain as I want to view the files on iPhone and iPad as well.

Hope you can advise.

Martin

Notes has never crashed on any of my devices. And I thought we weighed in pretty thoroughly in your other Notes backup thread. Are you looking for even other Notes backup methods?

Morning W,

I certainly am looking at all possibilities!

As stated, it would be good to have easily accessible backups which I can access using all my Apple gadgets.

For example if I need something, and it has accidentally been partially deleted, but I am out and I don’t have my Mac on me etc.

Best wishes
Martin

One time. One note (pw protected) with multiple tabs on it. The note was there but all the contents have disappeared (but the text outside tabs and the -now empty- tabs were still there). No way to retrieve the missing data.

Hi Wolf,

That sounds a nightmare! Feel for you.

Was that that a note in the 'Apple Notes' app?

Can you actually have have tabs into a note, within the 'apples notes' app?!
Be great to have tabs into a note - but not if it crashes!

Hope you can advise.

Best wishes

indeed it was an Apple Notes note and yes, you can have tabs (never used them again)... it never 'crashed'... just one day the note (the most important one) was almost empty (and iCloud take care to sync the 'rotten' note everywhere, no change history on notes to retrieve the data).

Maybe this was an unfortunate single event but... just don't put there nothing truly important without having your personal backup) ;)
