Here's an illustration of Apple's new product positioning for the Mini in action:
1) Maxed out Mac Mini (dual-core i7, 16GB, 256GB flash) is AU$1729 - ouch!
2) Mid-level 21.5" iMac (quad core 2.7GHz i5, 16GB, 256 flash) is AU2079
So AU$350 more for:
An arguably better CPU (about 10% slower single core, 40% faster multi-core)
Iris Pro graphics vs Iris 5100
A reasoanbly good 21.5" screen
Mouse/Trackpad + keyboard (c. AU$160 bought separately)
There's a pretty good indication than unless you only wanted a headless system, that the iMac is clearly a better deal.
