So my limited research has lead to me to understand that AppleTalk was supported up to Mac OS X 10.6

I have a G4 PowerBook 15” aluminium that I would like to use to join in all the MARCHintosh fun and join GlobalTalk.

Correct me if I am wrong (as I very well may be wrong) but if you have AppleTalk you can connect to GlobalTalk.

So here’s the question: anyone on here been able to connect to GlobalTalk using their G4 Mac running Mac OS X 10.5?

Page 7 of The Ultimate GlobalTalk Network Guide says, "The Apple Internet Router (required for GlobalTalk) works well with System 7.1 through System 7.6. It will not work on Mac OS 8 or above, but will work on Power Macintoshes."

AppleTalk was supported up to 10.6 it seems but only connecting to AppleTalk, not setting up an AppleTalk Server or “Zone”. I need to set up a 10.5 Server and see if one can set up an AppleTalk server on it or if you need a “classic” Mac OS for that

Leopard's Admin Tools do not have the ability to set up anything related to AppleTalk. Take a look at this--it should give you an idea of what needs to be done:

PS—After 20 years I can finally buy and sell in the marketplace!!!

From a quick look at their docs, it seems that requires a really pre-historic Classic OS. Unless netatalk can provide something compatible, you may be out of luck.

However, if you just want to tinker with some old but still alive networks, how about KDX, Hotline or Gopher?
