Hi,
I'm having trouble getting my AppleTV to recognize an ethernet cable. It connects wirelessly just fine, but will not connect via a cat5 ethernet cable I just ran through my attic. Could this be because it needs a crossover cable? I would hate to have to re-run all that cable through my attic. Is there a way to fix the problem without getting a new cable?

Cable is plugged into a D-Link wireless router. 30 ft. CAT5e cable. My windows PC has no trouble connecting to the cable, but the AppleTV does not even recognize it. AppleTV is running version 4.3, jailbroken running xbmc.

Thanks for any assistance

Hmm, that cable should be fine with it. Have you tried manually disconnecting it from the Wifi network? It might be defaulting to it.

I have tried disabling wifi, and it still doesn't work. It doesn't recognize this cable at all. But it's odd because my PC can use it just fine.

It works now. I just wiggling the cord around and it just started working. I wish I could say there was some definitive solution, but I think it's just a crappy cable.

Thanks for your help blevins. Have a great evening.
