AppleTV and TinyUmbrella

Anyone having problems backing up their apple tv SHSHs? ive tried 2 different micro usb cables. the 2nd one finally let it show in itunes after I wiggled the hell out of it. however it just shows up in tiny umbrella as "idevice" and the serial number and the "Save my SHSH" button is greyed out. I even restored it thru itunes and it shows the same way. I dont know if i have an apple tv with a faulty usb port or what. but it restored fine just wont show up in tiny umbrella.

nevermind I found the answer you have to enter the devices ECID info manually. Never did that with the iPhone or iPad so it caught me off guard. heres a guide for anyone else interested in backing up their blobs.

You don't have to put it in manually. You need to make sure to have the ATV plugged into the wall prior to connecting the cable. It will go into an auto recovery mode if only the cable is hooked up.

It's pretty easy. Just did this myself. If your ATV2 doesn't have power and HDMI connected, it will go into DFU mode upon plugging in the Micro-B USB cable. In DFU mode, you'll have to find the ECID manually to input into Tiny Umbrella.

The easier way IMHO is to have ATV2 hooked up with HDMI and power cables connected like it normally would and powered up. Then simply unplug the HDMI cable to make room to plug in the Micro-B USB cable.

Fire up TinyUmbrella and then click on the "Save my SHSH" button. Tiny Umbrella will locate your ECID automatically, save a local copy as well as upload a copy to Cydia server for safe keeping. One click. Easy peasy. Good luck.

well i originally was going by stealth bravos tweets and he said to make sure nothing was plugged in besides the usb. but it was easy to get the ecid once I knew about it and untangling the power cable from the back of my ent center would have been way more work so it was fine I just never knew I had to do that.
