Just got a new AppleTV, 3rd generation. I've hooked it up to my TV and I'm having issues with the audio.

I get some audio, but it cuts out every 2-3 seconds for around 5 seconds. I've fiddled with the audio settings (turn off Dolby Digital, set to 16-bit, etc.) but nothing seems to resolve the issue. It does this in AirPlay, Netflix, and Home Sharing. Also possibly doing it in the menu for the sound effects.

Are there any bright minds out there with a suggestion? Would greatly appreciate the help. :)

That sounds like it could be a bad connection or connector. I had a similar problem with my cable box, the sound would cut out for a few seconds every minute or so, and it turned out to be a failing optical cable.

try unplugging and replugging both ends of the HDMI cable, i had one that had a bad connection once and that seemed to fix it.
