AppleTV -> DVD R -> Old TV?

I’ve wanted TV before but now I really want it. A problem is that I have a working old-school TV, without the right connections and I don’t want to replace it yet.

I currently have a DVD recorder hooked up to it that can accept component/ HDMI, etc. from another source. Should I be able to hook TV to DVD recorder to TV?

That may work. The Apple TV can output 480i or 480p over component.
