Hi,

I have plenty of movies on my mac and was wondering if i could play them on my tv using appletv?

these films are not in my itunes and usually play them with quicktime.

thanks

mike

If they are able to played inside iTunes, then you can use Apple TV to gain access to them. If they are not in iTunes compatible format (.mp4 file using H264 as codec), then you might need Handbrake to properly convert the files using the Apple TV preset.

That depends if they are in the correct format. Your post doesn't tell us that.

Supported formats are:

H.264 video up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5Mbps, 640x480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35Mbps, 1280x720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format
