I just bought one of those and got a bunch of newspapers inside instead of an tv. Some thief pulled a fast one on Target.
They gave me a refund but it stinks that it was the last one in my area.
Oh well.
That sucks. I wonder how they did it though, aren't they usually behind the glass like in the picture? Unless it was an employee...
Actually, it's more likely that someone bought it online (it isn't normally sold in stores ... at least in my area), shrink wrapped it and then returned it. If any product is returned opened the employees are supposed to open and check to make sure the contents are correct.
Employees rarely steal items like this because Target's security is generally pretty good and usually catches them easily.
That's the problem, security doesn't let them know where the cameras are. You'd have to work for security to know that or be in a store manager. Employees are the easiest to catch.I'm sure if the employees are there long enough they would be able to do stuff like this without being caught. They just need to learn how their system works and then exploit it.

I hope the employees at the Target woodynlily was at told their security employees who should have reviewed the tapes on the date the AppleTV was returned. It's all over after that because 9 times out of 10 the thieves come back and get caught. I see it time and time again. It's almost too easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible for someone to rip the store off but it is extremely hard to rip off something that expensive and get away with it. All of the security employees I've worked with get off on catching people. And it seems that Target looks for those qualities in people when hiring for the security team ... at least in the areas of the country I've worked in.Let's be a little realistic here. You think the security that works for Target is 100% dedicated to their job? I doubt they would care if Target was getting ripped off by their employees.
