I think my AppleTV 4k is having interference issues. Sitting on my couch it will act like I’m holding down the scrolling button and just takeoff. I have several AppleTV and none of them do this. It was a Gen1 so yesterday I bought a gen 3 and it still does it. It’s sitting on an cabinet under my Tv and a Bose 900 sound bar. Inside the cabinet I have my router and next to the router is one of the hubs for my WiFi mesh setup. The ATV is wireless so I’m going to go grab an Ethernet cable but not sure that would really have anything to do with the setup. Is there anyway to somehow fix this? I have reset the remote a couple times.

where's your TV remote?

If you have CEC enabled, the TV remote will control the aTV over HDMI, if a button on that is being pressed, it can cause what you're seeing.

OP have you tried unplug, wait 30-60 seconds, plug it back in? I'm with #2 as first guess but this as second might help too. Apps can crash or partially crash and then do crazy things.

Since you suspect interference, you could also temporarily relocate it for a while and see if that resolves the issue. If it does, move it back to see if it starts again. That ability to "control" the trigger would add some weight to your hypothesis. My primary guesses at remedies though is still in my previous paragraph.

Do you find that the remote is also laggy? As silly as it sounds, try replacing the HDMI cable with a high quality 4k one. I just fixed my issue with doom scroll and laggy remote by doing this.

It sounds like the HDMI cable probably had poor shielding and caused interference.

Exactly....I thought it must have been the location as it was tucked between tv and wall, but changing the HDMI to a nice thick shielded one fixed it. Most people think it is the placement of the box and the signal not getting to it, but in reality, many times it is just the HDMI control signal from box to TV that is getting interfered and the result is shown on the tv.
