AppleTV software updates?

I haven't seen this covered anywhere, and I'm wondering - does the ATV have some software update system where it automatically checks for updates and downloads them if it has an internet connection?

Would be nice if Apple added new features that way - although that could be bad for the few people who have already started trying to hack new functionality into their ATV's.

I suppose Apple could also issue updates that you download through your computer and it "syncs" that to the Apple TV.

AppleTV has a software update function and it goes directly to the Web to get it.

However, does it do this automatically at some regular interval? No, not yet anyway.

Go to the 'Settings' menu, and select 'Update Software'. The ATV will check its version, and tell you if you're up to date or not. As stated previously, no info on whether, or how often, this gets checked automatically.
