ok I have ripped my movies and I used a program called MetaX which tags the dvd cover art plus tags the movie info into the file works great. But now that I have add a usb hard drive to the ATV it does not show the tagging. I was told that the tagging only work with Itunes. So my question is I don't use Itunes anymore so what program is out there for tagging mp4 files out side of itunes

thanks

What?

This reads like you are saying you want to cut iTunes completely out of the equation and instead store your movies on a USB hard drive directly attached to the :apple:TV USB port. If so- to the best of my knowledge- this can't be done. If you have successfully made this happen, please share details on how.

As I understand it, the USB port does not work like a computer's USB port, meaning you can't hook a hard drive to it and use it for additional storage for :apple:TV. What you can do though is hook that USB drive to your computer, store the movies on it, but add them to iTunes (without moving the actual file into the iTunes library) and that will work just fine with :apple:TV (though with iTunes still crucial to the setup).

It is VERY possible to add USB Hard Drive support to Apple TV

Not without hacking it it isn't.

Come on this guy is having problem tagging his files, I don't think you should be sending him up the hacking route just yet.

ATV usnb hardrive

ok it can be done I did it last night you can hack ATV 2.0 so you can hookup a usb harddrive and play your mp4 movies off it and not go through Itunes. So does anyone have any ideal about tagging my movies ?
