AppleTV YouTube Problems Anyone?

Hi,

Just got an AppleTV and upgraded to v1.1. Overall, it's great. However, I can't get YouTube videos to play using the new YouTube feature.

I can navigate through YouTube videos without issue. I see the graphics, etc. When I click on a youtube video in AppleTV, it goes to full screen with the progress bar at the bottom and the light grey youtube logo in the background but the video never starts. The little wheel just spins forever.

I can watch youtube videos on my laptop on the same wireless network. I say this because I'm living in China right now and who knows what's being blocked by the firewalls here.

I've tried doing a full system restore back to v1.0 and then upgrading again per someone's recommendation on the forum but that didn't help.

Any ideas?

It could be a firewall issue. The Apple TV is getting H264 versions of the YouTube videos, while on the laptop you're using the normal Flash version on the YouTube website. These are probably hosted on different servers, so maybe one is blocked but not the other.

YouTube not loading

When we first got the Apple TV you tube worked great, but in the last week nothing new will load. Like you said everything else works on the wireless network - laptop, computer and ipad, just the apple TV won't load. We can see everything in the history but nothing new. I tried resetting the modem and still the same. It's like the Apple TV can't see the internet.

The loading message comes on and just stays there. Just then I loaded the last youtube played and then nothing - the video finished and just stayed there on the screen. Screen saver came on. When I clicked back the video was still just sitting there on the last frame.

Now its just getting annoying. Why did it work brilliantly for 2 weeks and now doesn't work at all?

I have same YouTube issues intermittently

But I ave exactly that issue with films from my mac iTunes - they freeze and just a spinning wheel

I'm having the same problem. Everything works fine on my apple tv and has for years. In the last 2 months, all youtube features appear but when selecting a video the loading wheel spins but the video never loads.
I've been searching online but haven't been able to find any answers. I've reset to factory settings, restarted a number of times but nothing has changed.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, I spent a while changing and checking the wireless router channel. It was on auto with my old router and so I set it to auto with the latest one

That's when the problems started again, with the new one

So channel 13 seems to work ok now

But the intermittent issue i have with ATV2 is no sound! Turn it on and off and sound is back!

And the ATV1 seems to go from iTunes so shut iTunes down and on again or reassociate with wireless network!
