I plugged in my appletv 3 yesterday, put in my login info, the time, etc, and it works fine, but unlike my old AppleTV 2, which would keep its light off unless it was being used, this one keeps turning its light back on. It's hardwired in, no change on the TV when this occurs, no remotes being used, no airplay access to the device, nothing. The light comes on for about 30 seconds, and then goes out again.

I managed to catch it doing this once, and changed the TV input to the appleTV. There nothing on the screen other than "no signal."

I know it doesn't interfere with the operation of the device, but it is annoying seeing that bright LED come on at random moments for no apparent reason. I do notice now that if I change the input on the TV to the appleTV the light will come on then too. The ATV2 didn't do that either.

So now, the activity LED comes on when the apple TV is in use, the tv changes inputs to HDMI, and whenever it gets bored.

I notice mine does it when I turn myntv on or off and some other functions on my tv, and receiver. I haven't noticed if it does it when the tv is off due to not being in the room if the tv isn't on.

My ATV2 does this as well, and it's been reported here on MR before, so it's not just the new ones...

My AppleTV 1, 2 and 3 have always done this.

They never stay asleep, I always assumed it was picking up a code from my Toshiba TV or Sky+ remote.
