AppleWorks 6 for Windoze...anyone got it?

Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a copy of AppleWorks 6 for windoze? I have v5, but it's just not cutting it for me (or the people I give it to) anymore.

I cannot order it from the Apple Education store because I am not a teacher, and I am not American.

I called Apple and they told me the same thing (I have to be an American teacher.)

Any help would be appreciated.

AppleWorks for Education - the only one with a Hybrid (Mac/win) CD
 
because it's NOT AVAILABLE ON EBAY OR A STORE!!

I don't understand what people don't understand about this. Reply if you have some USEFUL information for me on how to obtain a copy or something else that's constructive and not another "you're an idiot"-toned reply.

YES, this has been discussed before and there is Appleworks for Windows and it works pretty dang good too! I have used it. It is pretty much exactly like the Mac version, close enough it will trick you into thinking you are running a Mac while you are using it.

I would say you would probably need a friend that is a teacher or a student to get it through, that would be about the only way to get your hands on it. I am a teacher and at my college in the education department we used it on Windows.

Thank you for the suggestion, but as you can see, OpenOffice is very similar to M$ Office, and it's all that complication that I'm trying to stay away from. AppleWorks (6) is the perfect app for what my friends, family and I want and need.

I've always admired Apple-designed software.

Appleworks is a shocking bit of software. I have v6 here on the Mac and it's terrrible.

Of course, Office is horrible too, but both applications let you type text and print it so who the hell cares.

Ahem...

As you can see, AppleWorks is very similar to M$ Office.... blah blah blah.

As you can see, Apple had nothing to do with AppleWorks aside from a name change:

First of all, I have a Mac, I will only get Macs from now on, and I recommend Macs to everyone I know.

Secondly, yes, I know Claris is the original maker of AppleWorks, and I also know that Claris was a wholly owned subsidiary of Apple.

But you knew that, right?

So technically, because it was orignally created by Claris, AppleWorks was and IS designed by Apple, and Apple itself designed the new additions to AppleWorks 6.

Just to clarify my statment about admiring Apple-Designed software, this includes software that follows the Apple Human Interface Guidelines; and Claris did that.

And just for the record, I've known about that Claris/AppleWorks History site forever.
 
Its previous form-solds as Clarisworks came with PC Authority in 1998 (version 4.0). Also it AW 16 win may be available to US educational staff only-so overseas users out of the question.

Gosh darnit! You're absolutely right! Who am I to ask for relevent information on the topic about which I started a thread? And silly me! I had my answer all along. I have to be an American teacher.

I guess I'll just study to be a teacher and move to the US.
