A freind needs to complete a paper she started in Appleworks. When I try and open Appleworks, it bounces in the dock a few times, then dissapeers and never opens!

I tried repairing permissions and that didn't change anything.

I told her she needs word... but in the meantime.

Please help, thanks!

I would try deleting the AppleWorks preference file. But I'm not on a Mac with AppleWorks right now so I can't tell you the path to the file until tonite.

It might be /Users/(yourname)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleWorks.plist. Searching the disk for "AppleWorks" might help you find it, wherever it is, if nobody else posts here to set us straight.

Deleting it might let you launch AppleWorks again. You might have to set its preferences again, but AppleWorks doesn't have that many to begin with.

Yeah, that's the right path (actually, it's com.apple.appleworks with no caps. but yeah).

Also, if your friend recently downloaded an update to the OS and doesn't have the most recent version of Appleworks, it's possible that that's what broke it. Here's a link to the most recent version.
