I have an idea for an Iphone Application, doesn't everyone! What I am wondering and have yet to find is tools are available to track the success/downloads/search terms for applications within the app store? What about other resources? Any help along these lines would be great, not only for my application but also for each of the people that are asking about applications on this forum! Thanks for the help- :)

other resource: maybe google trends?

I believe there is some way to ask google about search terms, but I don't know if it is possible to get that info for any random set of words. If you're an "advertiser", you might be able to find out how much search terms cost on Google and extrapolate from that how 'popular' those words are from competitors.

I just looked at the wikipedia page for Google Trends and it says the API hasn't been released.

Otherwise, I think you'd have to go to a marketing analysis firm and pay them for info.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I agree that is one approach, though I c an tell you that it is not as clear cut as just using key words. What I have found thus far is very little Application information that is not directly connected to Itunes. And as I think about it, when I am looking for an App. the first thing that I do is...look it up on Itunes...(which removes it from the Google data...)

Anyone else every had this problem? If not how are you evaluating the application you are developing...is it just a matter of build it and they will come? or not?

Thanks
