Is there for Mac and for iOS an application like Generic Battery Drainer (Jason K.S.L.L.) for Android
that can drain the battery the percentage desired by the user? That would be great to calibrate batteries, etc.
Thanks.

Personally I don't worry about the battery. When the battery gets low, I charge the battery. If I leave the machine connected to the charger for a week, no big deal. I let the OS worry about the state of charge and the battery health. I figure Apple probably has more intelligence about batteries, charging, use, etc. than I will ever have.

I figure the battery will last 5 years, maybe more. The technology is too advanced to expect anything less. After that 5 years I will probably get a new machine, or pay to get the battery replaced.

But to each their own.

Thanks. That is why I am asking for: AlDente does not discharge below 20% and worse of all, AlDente has ruined the battery, so I need to recalibrate it and never ever use AlDente. My Lithium-ion batteries last much more than five years taking care of them (charging to 80% when they are 40%). After installing AlDente, it ruined the battery. That is why I want to drain and calibrate it now. I can do it manually, but was looking for an application for Mac like Generic Battery Drainer (Jason K.S.L.L.) for Android to automate such process. Anyone knows one for Mac and for iOS?

@Marx55 How exactly did AlDente "ruin the battery"? I use AlDente so I'm curious.
anecdotally i have compared my battery health without it to users with similar usage patterns to me (almost entirely plugged in) and have had better life without running it.

that said i’m careful to not thrash the machine with stressful apps on battery. fast discharge hurts batteries as does high temps. heavy stress on battery power causes both.

Thanks for the messages. This is the requested information:

MacBook Pro 13‑inch (model identifier MacBookPro14,1; mid 2017) with 16 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD. macOS 13.7.2 (22H313) Ventura.

Before using AlDente, the MacBook Pro battery behaved as expected. After a few months using AlDente, I must plug to mains before cold booting the MacBook Pro, because otherwise it shuts down and when then it is plugged into the mains and booted, it shows more than 50% charge initially, or 0% charge later on, or lately even does not boot and shows the battery icon with animated red zone at the bottom, plus plug and arrow and lightning icons below. Before that, the battery did not show its real charge (when charged to 100% and booted, it worked for a while and after a few minutes, shuts down at about 65%). When booteed showed 0%. I am trying to calibrate it after such horrible experience.

Unless you've had the battery replaced during the time you've had the machine, it's likely the battery is just on its way out. Install CoconutBattery and see what the battery health says.

Thanks. After turning off AlDente and calibrating the battery, the battery seems OK. CoconutBattery shows 81.4%, 340 cycle count and good status.
