Application Update Issues

When I go to update applications on my iPhone, I enter my iTunes account password and then get presented with:

"This discounted price is only available to customers who own a previous version of this item. To purchase this item at full price, click OK."

Ironically, there's no 'OK' button, just 'Cancel' or 'Buy'. But, why does it think I have no previous version? It's installed on my iPhone! I don't want to pay for the app again...

It's probably also worth mentioning that the updates don't work via iTunes either. iTunes detects 2 updates, but when it goes to show me them it comes up with "No updates available. Check again later."

Anyone else experienced this? Anyone have any idea what's wrong?

Application Update Issues Solved? [Sorta...]

Hey,

Locker I had the same problem as you, when I launched iTunes it told me I had 9 updates, but when I clicked on the Applications Library in iTunes and clicked on "Check for Updates" at the bottom right corner of the Apps window I got the same "No updates available. Check again later." message. ...even after upgrading to 7.7.1

However in that window with the "No updates available. Check again later." I noticed that it kicked me into the store and the navigation path at the top of the screen was 'home Icon'>App Store>Application Updates and an otherwise blank window. So out of curiosity I clicked on the Application Updates section and wouldn't you know it, but my Updates came up!

I was able to download them all from there and I'm currently syncing my iPhone with the updates.

Try it out it might work for you too!

<edit> For those of you interested, even though iTunes downloaded the updates, they did not update on my iPhone Apple has really got to get it's act together, this whole 'user experience' has been taking a beating lately.</edit>

I've been having a problem with updates too. Itunes showed about 8 items to update, then I click the update link and then more than 8 show up. I click the download all and it does a lot more than 8.

Ok - I sync.. it updates my iPhone (or so it says)... but afterwards the iphone shows 2 items need updating.

Then I go back to itunes and it shows all the same items need updating.

What a mess.. do they not test this before releasing?

The only way I've figured out how to update through iTunes is to delete all of the applications and download the updated versions (make sure you're Mobile Applications folder in iTunes is empty - or at least void of the application you need to update).

Major pain, but the only working solution for me. I had some app that kept crashing my phone, so far no crashes since I deleted and reinstalled.
