i have gone a changed all my icons, but for some reason, under my HD folder with everything listed below- applications, pictures, desktop, music, movies etc. my application icon is still ruler, pencil 'A' shape! i select and apple+I and it does not appear that way, i have my applications icon in my dock, and it still isnt the stock 'A'!!!! only under the HD folder. why is this? i hope im clear on what im asking.

The icons on the side of the Finder are unrelated to those of the actual Folders they represent for some reason. Sorry but I don't know how to manually change them but Candy Bar might help.

I still don't fully understand the problem though, sorry. :eek:

I know what you mean. I booted up a friends ibook g3 about a year ago and the dock was filled with those logos. So I opened them all which fixed most of them. For the others, I dragged them out of the dock, and opened it from 'applications' then after it fixed itself, put it back in the dock.... And 1 or 2 were just screwed :D :(
