I just updated my 15" mid 2014 MBP from Sonoma to Sequoia.

I'm not sure how long this has been the case but I just noticed it now... my installed apps no longer shown in the "regular" Applications folder. They are in /Volumes/1TB SN580 - Data/Applications. I installed Intel Power Gadget after the update and that shows up properly in the regular /Applications folder (and not under the "Data" folder).

From what I've been reading, the "regular" applications folder at /Applications shows apps that are stored there (or is it actually on the "Data" volume?), as well as apps that are actually stored in /System/Applications. My /Applications folder now only shows the applications from /System/Applications and the newly installed Intel Power Gadget. All of my previously installed applications are in /Volumes/1TB SN580 - Data/Applications.

This new Applications folder is the only folder shown in Finder when I navigate to /Volumes/1TB SN580 - Data.

Should there even be a /Volumes folder? The only things in there are an alias to the main drive, this bizarre 1TB SN580 Data folder, and time machine files related to backing it up. I know there should be a /System/Volumes folder, but that's different.

And I just got a warning from NordVPN that it's not in Applications folder and should be.

Could someone help me figure out what is going on here?

Well I ended up moving the apps in /Volumes/1TB SN580 - Data/Applications into /Applications and then deleting /Volumes/1TB SN580 - Data completely. There was nothing else in there except the Applications folder.

I checked with another Mac and it does have /Volumes so I left that alone.
