Looking to upgrade my memory on Macbook 1.83.

New Mac User - I had originally bought 2 - 1 G Memory, but so far systems running XP and some other programs very good with the standard 512.

My 1 G and one of the systems 256, would give me 1.25.
Would this work?
Is having unpaired memory hurting that much?

Or should I just go for the 2 G ?

If you already bought both sticks, I'd personally put them in.

I don't really buy the dual channel memory stuff so much, but only because I haven't seen any benchmarks proving it makes a big difference.
But, trust me, someday down the line you're going to need that 2GB just to stay up-to-date or it may help you sell it sooner...

So unless you paid too much for them, just go ahead and pop them in.

Plus you can brag about it :p

Definitely go with the matched pairs. The more memory the better!:)

Agreed. Max that thing out now. I didn't do it to my iMac and now I wish I had (but lord knows Im not gonna bother spending money on a 5 year old machine now)

the dual channel effect has been shown to be somewhat beneficial in normal intel machines especially those with integrated graphics so it should be beneficial in these macs as the underlying hardware is the same.
