How the hell do I approve my iPhone X without having a second device from Apple. Been struggling with this since the day I got the phone.

It will delete all of my data from the old iPhone that was stored in the iCloud :(

Don’t sign into iCloud during setup. Skip that step and login via Settings once you’ve reached the home screen. At the same time you’ll be able to request an authentication code via SMS.

It doesn’t work through the authentication code.. it’s a different process.. plus I don’t want to reset my device.

You must have two factor authentication enabled which is why the phone needs approval. If you don’t have another device to approve the one you’re trying to approve from, then you can just skip signing into iCloud during the initial setup and do what I said in my last post. I don’t see any other way around it if you don’t have any other devices.

Can always try this.

If you can get into appleid.apple.com (probably can't currently due to 2FA), can setup multiple phone numbers to call for authentication. In that case, enter phone number of landline or family member's phone or work number so that you can get a code read to you. In addition to my cell number, I also have my VoIP number registered.
