Hi everyone,

Have done some general searches on this but nothing new or similar comes up.

I have an iPhone X on iOS 11.2.6.

My apps seems to be very irregular in auto updating. So for example, if I go into the App Store and go to the update tab one day they are bang up to date, another day there could be apps from days ago that haven’t updated. Today for example when I refreshed the update page, an Instagram update from 27 Feb was there.

I charge overnight, via mophie qi (Apple sold model). Connected to WiFi.

I’ve tried turning automatic update off and on, and also signing out of App Store and back in.

So I wanted to check if anyone else was seeing this?

Maybe I’m not understanding how apps update - is the update date when it is initially released in the App Store and it takes days to trickle through to update phones and there for when I’m refreshing the update page am I “forcing” it to look and if left otherwise it would eventually find it?

I’ve been an iPhone user since the original iPhone, and have to say haven’t noticed this behaviour before. Seemed to start around when got the X and started wireless charging so I was even wondering if that was possibly the issue? Wireless sometimes doesn’t register as “connected to power” but can’t imagine it is.

I could try a full wipe and restore if needed but, as a last resort.

Grateful for any views.

If I were you, I would probably ignore it. You can submit a feedback to Apple on the issue. In fact, I’m pretty sure a lot of users noticed the issues you described and little known how often or what interval does the App Store refresh itself for new updates and what required for auto update (maybe device must be idle? Connected to WiFi? Connected to charger? No idea, I left auto update on just in case but since iOS 11 I only noticed once it worked on it’s own. Now, I manually refresh to check for new updates each day. Once updated, if you pull down to refresh again, you may see the same updates with a much earlier date. If you update it again, it’s the same build you updated earlier but earlier published date. If you refresh it later, the date changed back from Feb 27 to current date.

Auto update has always been hit or miss for me. As you stated, sometimes apps will update the way the are supposed to and other times I have to manually update them.
