Universal Apps for iMac?

So, this is probably a really dumb question and for that I'm sorry. I just downloaded two apps hoping to use them on my iMac rather than my iPhone or iPad. They're not showing up on my iMac and when I go into iTunes they show on both devices but not my iMac. Am I asking the impossible? Again, sorry if this is a dumb question.

I downloaded them using my iPad, so I guess they aren't available for iMacs, right? I just assumed they would sync to my iMac. Shows you what I know, huh?

iOS apps don't run on Macs (which run OS X), just as OS X Mac apps don't run on iOS devices.
