So i've asked this before and doing it again but this time with better elaboration. I've had an m1 MacBook Air for over a year now and I've been experiencing some issues concerned with slow launch times of apps. At first i was unclear and couldn't get my head around at what was causing the problem but recently I've noticed a pattern. In normal circumstances everything seems to go well but whenever I run into some connectivity issues with my internet, the problem manifests and apps start taking disturbingly long to open. I've tried blocking ocsp as I read from some sites but nothing got fixed. I've also tried turning the wifi and yet still... the problem went nowhere. Is there an explanation for this and if yes how do I get it fixed. Any help would be highly appreciated.
p.s i have no idea what ocsp is. I just read somewhere that it was causing problems so I tried blocking it. And yes I've tried booting into safe mode, logging in as a different user but nothing seems to work

Online Certificate Status Protocol (ocsp).

It is checking developer certificates to make sure they are valid and not revoked. When you launch an application the OS sends information about the certificate to oscp.apple.com to see if the certificate is revoked. If it isn't the application launches. It checks about once a day. The duration is changeable by Apple.

Theoretically, if there is an issue with your internet or Apple's connection, it should fail gracefully. It sounds like this isn't your problem since you say you blocked it but you didn't say how you blocked ocsp.apple.com and that might matter. Anyway, the OCSP check definitely hasn't failed gracefully in all situations though I haven't heard of any problems recently (other than if you have very slow internet you might experience longer application launch times).

Edit: Maybe Apple isn't even using OCSP any longer. I've seen reports that Apple has replaced it with a new encrypted protocol but I don't have any other information.

What type of Internet connectivity issues are you experiencing? It sounds like they are at the root of your app launch problem. If you resolve your connectivity issues, then the apps may be able to check in as expected and then launch more quickly.
