The past week Ive noticed some kind of weird smudge on my ipad screen. It was under the glass, and appeared to be an LCD defect so I took into the apple store and got a replacement.

Before I did this I backed it up of course. After getting back from the apple store I restored my ipad from yesterdays backup only to find that some apps that ipaid for are missing.

Any idea whats going and how I can get these apps back without paying for them?

If you go into 'Settings -> Store' and make sure you're logged into the iTunes account you used to buy all those apps, then going into the App Store and selecting 'Buy Now' will tell you that you've purchased it for free already, and you can download again for free.

Or you can plug it into your computer and make sure that the apps are selecting under the settings for your iPad in iTunes.
