Apps not getting transferred to itunes

I am having an issue updating apps from my iPhone or iPad to iTunes.

Neither the updated apps in my device nor the newly purchased app gets transferred to itunes.

Previously it was happening, but one time I cancelled a transfer and then it stopped happening.

I am running iOS 9.0.1 and latest version of iTunes.

Anyone else having similar issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Apparently, starting with iOS 9 Apps no longer backup to iTunes. They are now just redownloaded from the App Store.

It's a 'feature' now.

That's why it may be a good idea to first download apps to your Mac or PC with iTunes and then sync them to your iOS devices.

ohh....thanks for the update....but its more of a pain than feature.

As I have 5 iOS devices that use mostly similar apps...and now I have to download updates in all of them, unless I update my iTunes first and then sync them

That's why it may be a good idea to first download apps to your Mac or PC with iTunes and then sync them to your iOS devices.

I read an article last night that said iOS 9 has a new feature called app slimming. The idea is that the App store app installs only those components of an app that are specific to your personal device, thus saving on space. But there is a bug in the iCloud backup process related to app slimming. So, Apple deactivated the feature when it shipped iOS 9.

The following is purely my speculation, but it makes sense to me. A backup is often restored to a new device and if that new device is different than the old device then an app that has been slimmed would be restored to that new device and either would not work or would function poorly. So, my guess is that Apple is now making iOS 9 backups re-download from the App store so that the correct slimmed app for the new device downloads.

If I am correct in this assumption then it means that while Apple deactivated app slimming, it did not deactivate the requirement for apps to be re-downloaded upon restoring which would be necessary to make sure the correctly slimmed app was downloaded.
