iPod apps question

hi, i noticed in my apps folder, inside of the itunes music folder.

that there is multiple copies of various apps, but with different version numbers, how do i know which are the good versions and which are ok to delete?

How about that:

The new app has the higher number than the old one.

Or maybe that:

Sort by date added and delete the older one.
