I just updated my iPad Air Gen 1 from iOS 9.whatever to iOS 10.1.1. I have noticed slight hesitation in response to my input on two apps in particular: Shredder Chess and Optime Sudoku. Before the update, both responded instantly when I touched the screen. In the case of Shredder, giving focus to the cell I touched; in the case of Shredder, moving a piece. Now with iOS 10.1.1 there is sometimes, but not always, a slight hesitation in the response. It is very disconcerting.
It's as though the OS is doing stuff in the background and when I touch the screen it takes it a moment to respond.
Is iOS 10 doing stuff in the background that iOS 9 was not doing, eating resources, and is there a way to turn that stuff off? Or is the iPad Air Gen 1 just not fast enough for the bloatware added to the latest OS?
It's a real dilemma because I always want to keep up with the latest security updates, but each new OS puts more of a strain on the resources of older hardware.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
