Why o why do the apps that were running on my Mac when I turned it off, start up again when turning on the computer???

The checkbox on the popup window that you see when turning off the Mac, isn't checked.
So these apps shouldn't be restarting after the reboot, right???

I'm running 10.8.2

Look in System Preferences under the Users & Groups pane and see what you have under login items.

Yeah I know. I checked that.
Not Twitter, Safari or Mail. But they do start up, if they were active when turning off the computer.

It's as if that checkbox is checked, but it's not....

Cause today two other apps started up too, that were active last night
