apps that sell real-world items?

I've never come across an application that not only shows you an archive of what a store has available, but also the option to buy an item.

For example, a distributor like newegg.com allowing you to browse their archive via a nifty app, and then allowing you to purchase a computer part from the app.

Is such an app possible to create?

The amazon app is really cool. You can snap a photo of just about anything and in a few minutes it will figure what it is and you can buy it.

Though, you can't make the purchases from your iTunes account, as that is not permitted by Apple and the SDK ToS.
