Hi

I have been having this problem since iOS 8.4.

After I update all the apps in Itunes, I sync my iphone so that the iphone 6+ will get the latest updates. In the past two months or so. I have not been able to update the apps using this method. Contents and media will update without any problems.

When I look at the list of apps on the app screen, you will see the button update. When I don't click on it, nothing happens. When I click on it, it changes to will update.

After I click on it, it will NOT UPDATE the app on the iphone 6+ as I do not see it copying the app over to the phone. What is another strange thing is that the line bar that shows the different contents in colors at the bottom of itunes, once I click on the button to update the app and click on sync, it will shrink the app bar.

I have tried everything including having the hardware checked by Apple (no problem) and restoring a new iOS and restoring the backup but this has not been resolved. It never happened before until Apple Music came about. Even after updating to iOS 9 and Itunes 12.3, I still have the same problem. The only way I update my app now is via wifi. But I am not always in a wifi environment.

Short of restoring it as a new phone and then importing the apps one by one and losing all the data and syncing the media. Any ideas?

transferring apps and anything related to it is broken either since ios 9 beta 3/4 or the itunes update that also occurred at that time

I see...so it's not my phone that's the problem. Thanks. Surprising nobody is raising a holler over this. Is it because most people just update via wifi?

I posted a thread a little while back about this. I have the same issue. It seems to have gotten a little better. But I haven't gotten an update at all over the last 2 days.

App updates do not sync to/from iTunes and my iPhone/iPad.

I understand app thinning is the likely explanation for app updates not transferring back to iTunes from iOS, but I assume updating apps in iTunes should still update apps on iOS devices upon the next sync. It is not working. If I update an app in iTunes, the update does not copy to my iOS device no matter how many times I sync.

I am running iTunes 12.3 on OS X 10.11 GM and iOS 9.1 Public Beta 2.

Am still having this problem and it seems to be device specific. My ipad mini works normally my old apple iphone 4 with ios 7 does not have the problem. My wife's in hone 6 is not having this problem and even my old ipad 2 does not have this problem just slow. So it MUST be a setting on my iphone 6+ that either got corrupted hence when I restore my backup the same problem crops up or it must be app thinning which really really sucks
